The church of St Martha-on-the-hill dates from the 12th century, and is on the Pilgrims Way which runs from Winchester to Canterbury. It is only accessible on foot. It sits atop St Martha\'s Hill - believed originally to have been called Saints & Martyrs Hill, referring to St Thomas of Canterbury. Megalithic and neolithic artifacts discovered on the hill indicate that the hill was in use as early as 3500 BCE.
