The cemetery at Hawkinge Crematorium is still used for burial services today. The crematorium is situated on the site of an old airfield used by Spitfire and Hurricane pilots during the Battle of Britain, and two of the gardens of remembrance are named after these planes. The 100 year old fir trees within the Cemetery including the beautiful central avenue (pictured) are due to be replaced at the time of writing.
