The cemetery is enclosed by a decorative metal fence and it has a gated entrance that was open at the time of this post. There is a mix of flat and upright headstones. The cemetery is well-kept. Phone number: 386-775-8575. Hours 7 am - 5 pm. Hollywood Cemetery was established in 1870 when the Wisconsin Land Company, who founded Orange City, donated 10 acres of land on South Carpenter Avenue. This land was designated for both white and African-American families. Robert W. Sturdevant surveyed the land and drew the first map, which is still in use today. The first burials were recorded in 1876. In 1883, the 10-acre parcel was divided into two 5-acre parcels. The eastern parcel was designated for whites and named Holly Wood Cemetery for its numerous holly trees. The western half was set aside for African-Americans and named Lincoln Cemetery. Both are still in use today. In 1906, a group of citizens formed the Cemetery Association of Orange City, and in 1907, they incorporated. That governing body is still active today, overseeing the operation of the cemetery. Through the years, the name Holly Wood Cemetery was shortened and today it is simply known as Hollywood Cemetery.
