Erected by William Drysdale in memory of his wife Ann Drummond

Their sons John Drysdale M.D. who died aged 33

William Drysdale C.E. who died at Asansol, Bengal aged 41

William Drysdale died aged 83

Christian Prentice Drysdale daughter of William Drysdale died aged 74

Susan Drummond Drysdale aged 79

Alexander Drummond Drysdale youngest son of the above named William Drysdale died aged 88

Sacred to the memory of Major and Lt. Colonel J Drysdale

42nd Royal Highland *** the Blackwatch

who joined A.D. 1836 and died A.D. 1866

of disease contracted in an Indian climate. He served with the 42nd throughout the Crimean and Indian mutiny campaigns and was decorated as a Knight of the Legion of Honour.

This tablet is erected by his brother officers and the men of the regiment as a mark of their affection and esteem.
