Allen Daniel Candler Civil War Confederate Army Officer, Georgia Governor. Served as a colonel during the Civil War, he lost an eye during battle. He was a member of the State house of representatives, then the State senate (1878 - 1879). He served as a US Representative (1883 - 1891). He was the secretary of the state of Georgia before being elected as the Governor of Georgia from 1898 to 1902. He was the State of Georgia Historian from 1903 until his death.
