This is a unique wrought iron cross marker that was common of the first German settlers of the area. The writing on center of the cross has begun to fade away. The cross has filigree welding designs around the top, bottom and arms.
According to the records book: "On 5th day in the month of September AD 1924, died Anna Gruber, daughter of Joseph and Rosalia Gruber, at the age of 25 years and 1 month, from Bowdle, buried on the 8th day of the month of December AD 1924 in the cemetery of St. Augustine. Annotation: grave 3 lot # 139. Recorded by Rev. John I. Kettler."
