Miss Cornelia Elting DuBois, 87, native and lifelong resident of New Paltz, who was a direct descendent of Louis DuBois, one of the original patentees who founded New Paltz in 1678, died yesterday in the New Paltz Nursing home where she had been ill the last four years. Prior to that time, Miss DuBois had made her home for many years in the Henry J DuBois home in Main street, New Paltz. Active in New Paltz for many years, Miss DuBois compiled the historical book,"The Story of New Paltz" Born April 4, 1873, Miss DuBois was the daughter of Henry J & Sarah Maria(Elting) DuBois. She was educated in New Paltz schools and graduated from New Paltz Academy. A MEMBER of New Paltz Reformed Church, and of Ladies Aid society of the church and had been church historian for many years. She was also a member of Huguenot Historical society, Ulster County Historical society, was a charter member of New Paltz Study club, a member of N.S.V. club of New Paltz and New Paltz Republican club. Surviving are 3 nephews, Martin Lee & Louis of New Paltz and Dale DuBois, Muskegon, Mich.
