Description

DAVENPORT — Services for Daniel Z. Collins, 83, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Collins died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Davenport.

He was employed in the Sanitation Department for the city of Davenport until retirement in 1970.

He was born Jan. 13, 1915, in Jacksonville, Fla., to Julius and Allean (Bowie) Collins. He married Genevieve Hayes in 1934 in Rock Island.

He was a former member of Bethel AME Church, Davenport.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Adams, Baton Rouge, La., and Melodee Collins, Omaha, Neb.; a son, Bruce Collins, Rock Island; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and sisters, Alberta Crump, Constance Overton and Linda Offutt, all of Davenport, Patricia Richardson, Rock Island, and Jennie Watson-Warfield, Minneapolis; and a brother, Edward Boyert, Davenport

He was preceded in death by sisters, Almira Barnes and Almeda Dickerson; and a brother, Johnny Culberson.
