GONE FISHING
BETTENDORF - Daniel J. Mekshes, a resident of Bettendorf, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Community Medical Center, Monmouth, Ill., after a sudden illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesdayat McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Davenport, the son of Frank D. and Elvera (Masengarb) Mekshes. He married Linda Prizler in Bettendorf on Nov. 25, 1966. Dan was employed as a technician for the Rental Service Corp. in Moline. He enjoyed boating, fishing and sports cars. One of the greatest joys in his life was his four precious grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the family. Those left to honor his memory include his daughters and sons-in-law, Tiffany and Jim Cole, Monmouth, Ill., and Traci and Steve Daniel, Oquawka, Ill.; his son, Brent Mekshes, San Diego, Calif.; his grandchildren, Andrew Cole, Erika Cole, Brittany Daniel and Abigail Daniel; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Tex Eutsler, Midland, Texas, JoAnn and Dick Burns, Moline, and Lorraine and Ken Young, Long Grove, Iowa; his brother and sister-in-law, Arliss and Pat Weber, Midland, Texas; and 10 nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Marler; his brother, Roland; his nephews, Mike Weber and Wayne Froeschle; and his parents.
