Doris (Yerkes) Hunsberger-Slagle, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 31, 2011 in the Lutheran Community at Telford. She was the wife of Herbert C. Slagle.
Born in Southampton Twp., she was a daughter of the late Walter L. and Edna K. (Walton) Yerkes.
A homemaker for most of her life, in her earlier years she was employed at Standard Pressed Steel in Jenkintown, and later at Patterson Iron Works in Plumsteadville.
Over the years, Mrs. Slagle attended Hilltown Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, Faith Baptist Church in Sellersville, and Community Baptist Church in Quakertown. She was a member of the Milford Twp. Historical Society, and she also enjoyed quilting, sewing, refinishing furniture, and gardening. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was survived by three daughters, D. Lynn Brodhead and her husband, George, of Souderton, Dana Jo Harley and her husband, Wayne, of Hilltown, and Susan Y. Walter and her husband, James, of East Greenville; two sons, E. Russell Hunsberger, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Dublin, and Christian D. Y. Hunsberger and his wife, Debra, of Trumbauersville; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a stepson, Carl Slagle and his wife, Cheryl; two stepdaughters, Karen Slagle, and Kimberly Campbell and her husband, Frank; and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, E. Russell Hunsberger, who died in 1986; two sisters, Ella King and Marion Hurst; and two brothers, Archie Leach and Walter Yerkes.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 8, 2012 in the Hilltown Baptist Church, Hilltown. Interment was in the Union Cemetery, Richboro.
