Myrl Johnson's Marriage to Einar Jensen

Colaborador: Reni4bz Created: 1 year ago Updated: 10 months ago

As written by Myrl Johnson in her memoir: On the 30th of November 1948 Einar and I were married in the Alberta Temple at Cardston. Putting our two families together made us a big family to take care of, twelve children and eleven grandchildren. Now in 1960 we have 32 grandchildren. We always have the family home for Christmas as many as can come which is most of them. Some live too far away. We have had good health and enjoyed life very much together. Einar was Bishop from 1947 to 1955. We went to Salt Lake City to General Conference many times and all were wonderful trips. Grandma Tanner came to visit us a few times which we enjoyed very much. My Mother was sick with a bad heart for a long time and then had a stroke. She came to live with us part of the time in 1954 until she died in 1956. We have had many experiences and problems to work out together and now we are alone most of the time.

For most of my growing up years my grandpa and grandma lived next door to us on the farm. He loved to whistle and would often wake me up in the mornings with his tunes which I could hear outside. He loved his horses and I was lucky enough to ride with him often. I rode a horse named Tammy, she was a bit slow, and he was always after me to make that plug keep up. he loved to tease and was always squeezing my finger till it hurt then he would laugh. He was always teasing my grandma(she was my stepgrandma, dads mom died of a heart attack when he was 12)I also spent many hours in the garden with him and lots of evenings in the summer sitting on the swing out back and just visiting. My grandparents always invited me to go to church anytime with them and so when I wasn't doing anything I would go with them and I am sure that is where my testimony started to grow. How thankful I am to them. My grandpa could speak his native tongue danish, he had a little danish dictionary that I would sit at his table and try to learn some danish words. He would get letters from cousins in denmark and read them to me in danish.
