Obituary -- ST. GEORGE - Garrett Lynn Gardner, age 23, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2006, in a tragic trucking accident in Parowan Canyon while on the way to help a friend.
Garrett was born August 26, 1983, in St. George, Utah, to Reuben Lynn and Janece Houston Gardner. He was a fun loving boy who grew up in St. George, and on the family ranch in Pine Valley.
Garrett was a graduate of Dixie High School, class of 2002, and was also an Eagle Scout. He liked western things and enjoyed rodeoing and working on the ranch, but had especially grown to love anything pertaining to excavation, particularly the track hoe. Garrett enjoyed working for Allen Feller, who had become a hero, and his desire was to eventually own his own excavation company.
Garrett was a big tease with his brother and sisters, and especially with his grandmother. He had an easy laugh and was quick to help anyone in need. Garrett enjoyed people and had a lot of friends whom he loved to be with. Since the death of his father at a young age, his family, cousins, friends and neighbors have all been involved in loving and raising him. He was especially fond of little children and they were fond of him. Garrett will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include his mother, Janece; brother, Reuben Jordan, (currently serving in the Atlanta, Georgia, North Mission); sisters, Megan, Ashley and Janessa; his dog, Duke; special friends, Brittney Walch and her daughter Hally; his grandparents, Maree Gardner and Alton and Noma Houston; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Garrett was preceded in death and was received into the loving arms of his father, Lynn, and his grandfather, Dean.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, 2006, 11:00 a.m., at the Morningside 1st Ward Chapel, 930 S. Morningside Dr., St. George, UT. Friends may call Thursday, October 5, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, and again on Friday, October 6, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church. Interment will take place at the Pine Valley Cemetery.
