**GUSTAV...The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel Gustav Joseph Fiebeger, US Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the US, in a duty of great responsibility during WWI, as Professor of Civil and Military Engineering at the US Military Academy. As head of the Dept of Civil and Military Engineering Colonel Fiebeger, for 26 yrs, instructed, both personally and by textbook, the officers of the Army in the principles of warfare, principles later fruitfully applied by many of these officers as commanders in the World War. NOTE: Gustav born at Akron, Ohio.
