Services for Hazel C. Letterman, 83, of Davenport, Iowa, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 1989 at McGinnis, Chambers, and Sass Funeral Home. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery. She died Saturday, September 16, 1989 at St. Luke's Hospital, Davenport, Iowa.
Hazel was born April 9, 1906 to O.A. and Pearl (Cahoon) Schlitter at Oelwein, Iowa. She married Henry Lehn February 14, 1924 in Waukon, Iowa. He died June 26, 1930. She then married William H. Letterman June 28, 1933 in West Union, Iowa. He died January 24, 1981.
She retired in 1968 from Oscar Mayer Food Corp., Davenport, where she had been employed 23 years. She was also a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Wanda) Spears, Davenport; a son, Robert of Eldridge, IA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Leo (Agnes) Melcha and Mrs. Al (Lena) Linville, both of Harpers Ferry,IA, Dorothy Ellis, Postville, IA, Mrs. Chester (Bertha) Swanson, Muscatine, IA, and Laura Valley, LeClaire, IA, and brothers, Leo (Buck) Schlitter, Denver, CO, Fred (Fritz) Schlitter, Riverdale, IA, and Raymond Schlitter, Davenport.
