Son of Robert & Catherine Calloway Innes
A Virginian by birth, Innes was named to the Supreme Court of the District of Kentucky in 1782. In 1789, President George Washington appointed him Judge of the United States District Court of KEntucky. Innes held this position until his death. He was the personal lawyer of Frankfort founder James Wilknson and he was involved with Wilkinson in the Spanish Conspiracy, a plot aimed at transferring Kentuckyfrom American to Spanish rule.
