Informal photograph of Major (Maj) Eric Thomas Brind, adjutant of B Company 23rd Battalion sitting outside a dugout having his hair trimmed. A distiller prior to enlistment Maj Brind embarked as a Lieutenant (Lt) on HMAT Euripides from Melbourne on 10 May 1915. After promotion to Major he was Mentioned in Despatches for his conspicuous good work as Company Commander. Maj Brind was reported as missing in action on 28 July 1917 and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux memorial.
