>HUBERT W DuBois, 18, son of G Wurts DuBois of New Paltz, and Clara Dellay, 21, daughter of Mr & Mrs John Dellay of Rosendale were killed almost instantly at 5 AM this morning when the car in which they were riding plunged off Saugerties rd 7 mi. north of here, crashed into a tree, then rebounded back on the road where it overturned. Romanus Dellay, 19, brother of the dead girl and driver of the auto, and Gertrude Keller, 19, of New Paltz, riding in the front seat with him, were not seriously injured. The Coroner said, after investigation, that Dellay had fallen asleep at the wheel. The two couples were in route home after spending the holiday at Albany when the car suddenly swerved off the road. Passing motorists removed the 4 from the badly wrecked auto and took them to hospitals in this city. DuBois was dead when he was admitted to Kingston City hospital, Miss Dellay died of her injuries shortly after her admittance to Benedictine hospital. Both deaths were believed due to fractures of the skull. The accident, one of the most severe of the season in Ulster county, occurred just outside of Lake Katrine village near the place once known as Mars hotel. The impact was so terrific the car was bounced back on the road, the top and right side demolished. The auto was owned by young DuBois. John Dellay, father of the dead girl, is a prominent real estate broker in Rosendale and was the agent in various transactions in which Father Divine, Negro evangelist, acquired extensive holdings in Ulster Cnty. Young DuBois graduated from New Paltz HS last June and was going to enter New Paltz Normal this month. In addition to his father, he is survived by 2 brothers, Irwin and Leonard DuBois, both of Long Island. From Evening Star, Sept 17, 1936.
