Dr Abm Deyo died at home in Gardiner, after an illness of 2 years, following an attack of grip. Aged 71 yrs. He was the son of Jonathan Deyo, whose father Daniel Deyo moved from the old Deyo homestead in New Paltz and located on 500 acres near Ireland Corners, where his stone house is still standing. Dr Abm Deyo practiced medicine in Newburgh several years and later at his old home at Ireland Corners, where his father had lived before him and here he lived until his death.30 years ago he gave up the practice of medicine. He took much interest in politics and was an influential Republican. He was very interested in public matters, and an enthusiastic worker. He was the prime mover and a hard worker in the Reform movement in Gardiner 20 years ago, which established honest and economical rule in that town. In the organization of New Paltz Huguenot Memorial Society he took an active part and was a generous contributor. He was VP of this organization until his death. Dr Deyo's wife was Mary J Bevier, daughter of Daniel. She survives with 4 children: Daniel B of Kingston, Jonathan of Newburgh, Abraham of Gardiner and Cornelia wife of Maurice W Eltinge of Kingston. MARY J Bevier, widow of Dr Abrm Deyo, died at her home on Sunday last. Mrs Deyo was the only child of Daniel and Cornelia(DuBois) Bevier and was born on the Moses P LeFevre farm, which was the old home of Mrs Bevier's father Joseph DuBois. She was 68. From New Paltz Independent February 28, 1902.
