Joshua H Cook Dies

Former old time resident of Delta Joshua H Cook died at his home in Springville at the age of seventy three. He moved from Delta about six years ago. He had lived here for many years as a sound well respected farmer with a good property and a man liked by all. He had been a bishop at Thurber for fifteen years. In the early days here many a dance has depended upon his violin for its sole music. He was born in Nephi. When a small boy his parents moved to Dixie. He married Betsy M Bybee in 1877 in the St George Temple. Afterward they moved to Thurber at which place he was bishop of the Lyman ward for fifteen years. They moved to Delta in 1909. His first wife died in 1923 and he then married Mrs Emma Jenkins who died last fall. Mr Cook filled a mission to the western states in 1892. He is survived by the following children Mrs Nora Chapel, Lyman; Mrs Francetta Sampson, Mrs Geneva Pace, Mrs Ardella Riding, Mrs Florence Workman, Mrs Lucile (Luceen) Jenkins, Mrs Oliver (Olive) Miller, Jerome, Heber and William Cook and seventy one grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, also by three sisters and one brother. Funeral services were held in Provo and interment held in Delta today (Thursday) from the home of Benjamin F Sampson.
