The funeral of William H. McVey, Walden, was at the home of deceased. He was buried at New Paltz Rural Cemetery. He was a man respected & loved, in Walden, where he was born. He had no enemies, was not addicted to sinful habits, but was a man of good moral character, industrious and aiming to do right in all things. He had been a comfort to his parents, rendering them counsel and assistance when desired and needed; was tender-hearted & kind, and would be greatly missed by those with whom he had associated. For many years in the employ of Wallkill Valley RR had enjoyed the confidence of his employers. The profuse display of flowers adorning the casket, testified to the feelings of reverence & esteem in which he was held. He died at about 1:30 o'clock, passing away peacefully and gently. William was born at Walden March 20, 1856, son of Mr & Mrs Wm T McVey. He was married to Libbie, daughter of Hiram Deyo, of New Paltz, in 1879, and looked forward to a life of usefulness and happiness, but the dread malady - consumption - dissipated fond hopes, and removed him at the early age of 26 years. His sorrowing wife and friends have the sympathy of all in their affliction. From New Paltz Times February 15, 1882 and from the Newburgh Journal.
