Rites Set for Two Logan Girls After Truck Crash Friday (Newspaper clipping, Sunday, July 25, 1948)

LOGAN, July 24 – Funeral arrangements were completed Saturday for Marian Joyce Hansen, 14, and Jolene Godfrey, 13, Logan accident victims who died Friday of injuries suffered in a two-truck collision at the intersection of 1st South and 4th West. The Hansen girl died Friday afternoon and Miss Godfrey at 11:45 p.m. Friday night.
Services for Miss Hansen will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Logan Eighth ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Fred J. Kloepfer, bishop. Friends may call at the W. Loyal Hall Mortuary from 9 a.m. Monday until time for services. Burial will be in the Logan city cemetery.
Godfrey Rites Tuesday
Services for Jolene Godfrey will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Logan LDS Eighth ward by Bishop Kloepfer. Burial will be in the Logan city cemetery under the direction of W. Loyal Hall mortuary.
The condition of Angela Sealy, 15, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sealy, suffering from concussion and shock, was reported Saturday as “fair” at the Cache valley hospital, while the three other girls also injured in the accident, are reported in “good” condition. They are Annette Hansen, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Parley Hansen; Janice Kloepfer, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Kloepfer and Marilyn Stettler, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stettler.
The six girls were riding in a panel truck, driven by W.C. Heckman, 54, of Providence, Cache county, when it was struck by another truck. The girls had been picking berries for Mr. Heckman at his farm in Providence.
Jolene Godfrey was born in Logan Dec. 9, 1934, the daughter of Dewaine E and Norma Schwaneveldt Godfrey. She was a student at the Logan junior high school and was an accomplished dancer. She was a member of the Logan Eighth LDS ward.
Surviving are the parents, one brother and two sisters, Kent Norma Joy and Loralee Godfrey, Logan and two grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezrel Godfrey, Clarkston, Cache county.
