Marianne was born in Karlshorst, Germany, on February 9, 1917, to Wilhelm Gustav and Johanna Lina (Mossig) Arlt. She married Lawrence Clark "Bud" Etherington on June 27, 1938, in the Salt Lake Temple. Preceded in death by her husband Bud, her parents, brother Waldemar Arlt, sister Gertrude Overlade, and two grandchildren - Tommy Brock and Nichole Etherington.
Mom and Dad served a mission in Wales and Shrewsbury, England and came home with many sweet memories and friends with whom they continued to correspond.
Mom served valiantly in many church callings throughout her life and leaves many, many dear friends in her ward and beyond.
Watching KBYU Devotionals has long been a treasured part of Mom's day.
She carefully planned and worked all year long for her annual Christmas party: sewing countless nighties, jammies and undies for the little ones, and casserole totes, heart-shaped hotpads, dishcloths, etc. for the older ones.
Many thanks to the dear hospice workers whose visits meant so much to Mom and to us. Also to the many ward members, including sweet visiting teachers, who have loved her and shown much kindness.
A viewing will be held Sunday evening, November 9, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd (10600 S.)
