Description

Malad....Mary Ann John Griffiths, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, died Sunday, July 29, 2012.

Mary was born July 4, 1921, in Samaria, Idaho. She was the 6th of 10 children born to Mattie Williams and David Edward John.

On June 11, 1938, Mary and Gordon Griffiths were married in Samaria, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a loving and supportive wife, as they were married for 74 years. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various positions.

Mary was the mother of five children and showed her love through good food and a well-kept home. Her children loved her patient and caring ways. She will always be remembered for her carrot pudding, fresh garden beans, fried squash, pies, choke cherry syrup, mustard/dill pickles, home-made rolls and her love of all sweets. Mary enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking. She also loved playing cards whether it was with her husband, friends or grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children: Marilyn (Russ) Gilbert, of Birmingham, Alabama, Kathy (Keith) Steindorf, of Layton, Utah, Rod (Vickie) Griffiths, of West Haven, Utah, Rick (Sharilee) Griffiths, of Logan, Utah, and Cindy (Lee)Maughan, of Panaca, Nevada; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Eldon (Jean) John, of Malad, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, daughter-in-law, granddaughter and great-grandson.

The family would like to thank the staff at Washington Terrace Rehabilitation Center and VistaCare Hospice for their loving care and support.

The family suggests donations be made to the LDS Church "Perpetual Education Fund".
