May was the daughter of Andrew & Louisa Wardlaw, formerly of Ampitheatre. Bert was the son of Arthur & Ada and grandson of Robert & Sarah Boardman, pioneers of the Steiglitz Goldfields. Robert, who arrived in 1853, was a miner, storekeeper and farmer.
