AVENPORT - Services for Nathaniel W. "Bill" Major, Davenport, will be 10 am. Friday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. He died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at his home. He worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal, serving over 30 years employed by the government. He was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Burlington, Iowa. He married Lorraine McGowen in 1950 in Joliet, Ill. She died in 1996. He served in the Army. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Y. Major, Richfield, Minn.; sons, Frank Major, Hillsboro, Ore., Robert E. Major, Aurora, Colo., John W. Major, Davenport, Terrill Major, Davenport, and Michael Major, Aurora, Colo.; eighteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Wrightsil in April 2002.
