Peter Mandel Jr. 1932 ~ 2007 Our loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, Peter Mandel Jr., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007. Pete was born to Peter Mandel and Mary Bobby on Jan. 25, 1932 in Phillipsburg, PA. He graduated from Penn State with a BS in Geophysics. He always loved Penn State football. After serving as an officer in the Korean War, Pete moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah, where he earned his Master's Degree in Geophysics. While attending the U of U he met Mary Gwen Light. They married Jan. 8, 1959 and later adopted four wonderful children. Pete worked for Standard Oil and then Hercules Aerospace (ATK) where he retired after more than 30 years of service. Pete loved spending time with his family, especially camping and fishing. His grandchildren were his joy. Pete is survived by his wife Gwen, their four children, Kate (David) Bills, P. David (Karmal) Mandel, Martha (Greg) Knott, and Mark (Tamara) Mandel, also his sister Dorothy Lloyd, brother George (Estelle) Mandel, and 13 grand-children. He will be missed by all who loved him. Funeral Services will be held Sat. Dec. 29, 2007. Friends and family may visit from 10-11 a.m. with graveside services at 11:15 a.m., Wasatch Lawns Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, UT.
