Roy E. Jackson, 78, of Davenport, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab Center, Mediapolis.
Born Jan. 29, 1929, in Morning Sun, he was the son of Roy E. and Ger-trude Green Jackson Sr. He married Lois Fuller in 1949. She preceded him in death. On April 22, 1958, he married Betty Lindbom in Davenport. She preceded him in death. He then married Grace Goode who also has passed away.
Mr. Jackson was employed at Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Co. for more than 20 years as a customer service dispatcher. He later went to work at the Rock Island Arsenal in the artillery section. He retired from the Arsenal with 17 years of service. After retirement he drove for Budget and National Car Rental at the Moline Airport.
He graduated from Davenport High School in 1947 and served in the Army during the Korean War. He attended artillery school at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion Post 26, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Peterson of Sperry, Connie Goode of Davenport; one son, Jim Lindbom of Davenport; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral for Mr. Jackson will be at 1 p.m. today at Runge Mortuary and Crematory in Davenport. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.
