According to the book "Over Cherry Tree Hill", Samuel Freeman was born 1779, a convict transported for life in 1800 aboard the "Earl Cornwallis". He was a carpenter, had 9 children. He was buried at Round Swamp in the private burial ground of his son-in-law Thomas Barnaby, the licensee of the local "Coach and Horses" Inn at Round Swamp.
