Notes: According to records on Fold3.com, Thomas J. Lockhart, Private, Co. F, 1 West Virginia Inf., age 20 years, joined for duty and enrolled 09/08/1861 at New Cumberland for a period of three years. He was mustered in on 10/29/1861 at Camp Carlisle, Wheeling, Va. Lockhart was captured at Moorefield, VA, 09/11/1863; confined at Richmond, VA, 09/17/1863; paroled at City Point, VA, 03/15/1864; reported at College Green Barracks, MD, 03/16/1864; sent to and arrived at Camp Parole, MD, 03/18/1864; sent to Camp Chase, OH, 04/02/1864, and deserted on way to Camp Chase, Columbus, OH. This charge of desertion is removed under the provisions of the Act of Congress approved 07/05/1884. He was absent without proper authority from on or about 04/02/1864, to on or about 03/07/1864, when he reported at Wheeling, W. Va. He was sent to regiment 05/23/1864. He appears on Company Muster-out Roll dated at Wheeling, W. Va., 11/26/1864.
